Canis Testis provides independent assessment and certification of working dogs. This page explains the limits of that service. Please read it carefully before relying on any report, certificate, or statement we issue.
1. What our assessment is
Our assessment is a point-in-time evaluation of a dog's health, temperament, and capability, conducted by qualified veterinarians, trainers, and assessors against our published protocol. It describes the dog as observed on the day of assessment, under the conditions of assessment.
2. What our assessment is not
Our report and any certificate issued are not:
- A guarantee of the dog's future behaviour
- A guarantee of the dog's future health
- A guarantee of the dog's suitability for any specific purpose, home, or role
- A warranty of any kind, express or implied
- A substitute for your own judgement, or for independent legal, veterinary, or professional advice
3. Behaviour cannot be guaranteed
All dogs are capable of unpredictable behaviour. A dog that passes our assessment may still:
- Bite, injure, or frighten a person or animal
- Develop behavioural or health problems later
- React differently in a new environment, with a new handler, or under new stress
No assessment, by anyone, can eliminate these risks. Anyone who claims otherwise is misleading you.
4. Health assessment is limited
Our veterinarians assess the dog's health based on physical examination, available records, and any tests agreed in advance. We do not:
- Diagnose or treat illness
- Guarantee the absence of hereditary, congenital, or hidden conditions
- Replace your own veterinarian's examination
We strongly recommend that any buyer obtains an independent veterinary examination before purchase.
5. Buyer and handler responsibility
The buyer, owner, or handler of any dog is solely responsible for:
- The dog's care, welfare, training, and control
- Compliance with all applicable laws, including animal welfare, transport, and dangerous-dog legislation
- Any decision to purchase, use, or rely on a dog
- Any injury, damage, or loss caused by the dog
6. Our independence and limitation of liability
Canis Testis does not sell, breed, or train dogs, and takes no commission from any seller, breeder, or agent. Our fee is for the assessment itself, regardless of the outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law:
- We accept no liability for the behaviour of any dog, before, during, or after assessment
- We accept no liability for decisions made by any party based on our report
- Our total liability is limited to the fee paid for the specific assessment
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss
7. Accuracy of information provided to us
Our assessment relies on information provided by the seller, owner, or handler. If that information is false, incomplete, or misleading, our report may be invalid. We reserve the right to revoke any certificate if new information shows the assessment was based on false or incomplete data.
8. Use of our name and mark
The Canis Testis name, logo, seal, and certificate may only be used by parties authorised in writing. Misuse may result in legal action.

We are not responsible for the content of external websites, sellers, breeders, or third parties we may mention or link to.
11. Changes
